​First we take cold press tree-ripened, organic limes, then we add purified water and certified organic sweeteners without adding sugar. Finally, we gently pasteurize our limeades with UV light to create an honestly healthful Arizona limeade that’s been kissed by the sun. We do the same for our lemons to create a refreshing lemonade that tastes of lemon flowers and sunshine. That’s it. Because, to be honest, limeade shouldn’t be complicated.
For over three decades, Patagonia Orchards has been joyfully packing and shipping Arizona tree fruits and sharing this bounty with the world. The Sonoran Desert, from Arizona to the Sea of Cortez, is blessed with a climate that favors citrus. Warm, sunny days and chilly nights concentrate the delicate sugar and acid ratios of the fruit and create fragrant floral notes in citrus juice that is “sun-sational”.

For years, the company’s owners, Philip and Sherry, made delicious, no sugar added, organic limeades and lemonades for their children’s soccer teams. Kali and Rowan and their teammates loved that they could drink a delicious, healthful beverage that left them energized and refreshed in the Arizona heat. Encouraged, the couple decided to add organic juices to their product line and, in 2016, Patagonia Orchards launched The Juicery. As the first licensed juicing facility in Santa Cruz County, The Juicery creates organic limeades and lemonades that are uniquely, honestly healthful. ​

Our Sweeteners

These days, most of us wish to avoid that “spoon full of sugar”. Patagonia Orchards utilizes only the highest purity extract of Stevia to sweeten our limeades and lemonades. Stevia is a plant native to South America that has recently gained in popularity as a natural sweetener for foods and beverages. The leaves of the plant contain sweet tasting components called “steviol glycosides” that are 200 to 300 times sweeter than table sugar but which contain no significant carbohydrates, calories or artificial ingredients. To release the sweetness of the plant, the steviol glycosides are extracted and purified from the stevia leaf, like other ingredients such as sucrose (sugar) from sugarcane or natural vanilla extract from the vanilla bean.  We use a clarified form of stevia that does not affect the flavor of our citrus so that our juices taste naturally sweet with no aftertaste—like sunshine in a bottle.  

We also add a dash of erythritol which is another natural ‘no calorie’ sweetener that has no affect on blood sugar or insulin levels in order to reduce the amount of Stevia to create a balanced taste profile. Our organic erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol derived from organic corn and has a low glycemic impact that won't contribute to tooth decay or insulin spikes which sweetens the juice without hiding its floral bouquet.
